Specially established Special Naval Landing Force of the Naval District was authorized on 15 October 1936. Each would receive the name of their home district with number added, for example "1st Yokosuka Special Naval Landing Force".
SNLFs were to be attached to their Naval Districts, but could be attached to a Fleet or Specially established Guard District when necessary.
"Specially established" (could be also translated as "Specially designated") here means this unit was not a part of permanent naval establishment but was formed when necessary. But unlike task force it has its own Table of Organization and Establishment and in genral was treated like any permanent formation of the IJN.
Note, that IJN administarive tables of organization had little information about actual units' organization, so only OOB and table of SNLF's tactical organization (below OOB) are given here.
